Lara contributes articles to Clarinet & Saxophone magazine from time to time, (see CASS Society of Great Britain in the 'Links' page) and has strong research interests in matters related to the saxophone. The area she specialised in for her Musicological thesis was 'The Saxophone in Britain c. 1860-1960'.

Lara's performing involvement extends from contemporary classical to many other genres and cross-over styles. She has a particular interest in a style of new-age/world crossover music, and writes and arranges in this context. Further information about a new project will be featured on this site soon. Her work in these other genres includes jazz duos, big bands, the large Cuban band Orquesta Timbala and Toolshed, (described as 'Graham Massey's undocumented prog-operatic commune band') performing at the likes of the Ether Festival, In The City Festival, Venn Festival and Manchester Jazz Festival.

Lara has played on albums by guitarist John Rodge, drummer Dave Walsh and Toolshed.
Graham Massey of 808 State renown is the mastermind behind this alternative and innovative project. (Visit Toolshed in the 'Links' page and see Twisted Nerve Records to buy the CD)
